A+ Certification

A Plus Certification is a CompTIA-sponsored testing program that certifies the competency of entry-level computer service technicians. The A Plus test contains situational, traditional, and identification types of questions. All of the questions are multiple choice with only one correct answer for each question. The test covers a broad range of hardware and software technologies, but is not bound to any vendor-specific products.

The program is backed by major computer hardware and software vendors, distributors, resellers and publications. A Plus certification signifies that the certified individual possesses the knowledge and skills essential for a successful entry-level computer service technician, as defined by experts from companies across the industry.

Currently, over 260,000 people have obtained the A Plus Certification worldwide.

Who may take the tests?

A Plus Certification is open to anyone. The A Plus exam is targeted for entry-level computer service technicians with at least 6 months on-the-job experience. No specific requirements are necessary, except payment of the testing fee.

The A Plus test is available throughout the world in Spanish, French, German, and Japanese.

A plus Certification shows competency in troubleshooting hardware for IBM Compatibles and/or Macintosh using MS-DOS, MS Windows, or Mac OS software. The CompTIA A Plus Certification used to be very rare, but more employers are looking for people who know hardware, as well as software, troubleshooting techniques.
