Hi! I'm Chris Butler, founder and owner of The Computerbutler. The following is my bio, in letter format.
The purpose of this letter is to give you some information about me. It provides a clear picture of what I’m all about, as well as my ambitions.
First and foremost, I can be described as a Christian. Through other people, God has opened my eyes to many, many inconvenient truths about the world we live in. Generally, people do not realize the magnitude of the poverty that exists in our world. People needlessly starve to death and die of horrendous diseases everyday… and it is my ambition in life to change that. It is also my wish to pass this knowledge on to those who can join in and help. The one thing that Jesus talks about in the Bible more than anything else is helping your brothers and sisters – A verse in Deuteronomy states, “There will always be poor people in the land. Therefore I command you to be openhanded toward your brothers and sisters and toward the poor and needy in your land.”
Chiefly, I have God to thank for helping me, but two of my favorite people in the world, Scott Lang and Terry Jolley, are responsible for providing me with many tools that will help me to realize my ambitions. Scott Lang’s favorite quote goes something like this, “A person almost wrote a check to charity today… A person almost helped that elderly woman at the grocery store today… A person almost stopped and asked that girl in the hallway why she was crying… Guess what? That starving child in Africa ALMOST survived the night.”
Secondly, I can be described as a musician. My musical history starts in the 8th grade, and since then I have tried to cultivate my musical skills and talents thoroughly. I was section leader of the percussion section at Blackman High School, and I am pursuing a music education major at MTSU. I have been a part of an elite percussion group, “Percussion XS,” for two years, and I was invited to represent the state of Tennessee in the National Student Leadership Conference.
In addition to my former two descriptions, I am also well-versed in the field of technology. I currently manage four (soon to be more) websites for various entities, and I have repaired and built countless computers for friends and family (and strangers). It is my hope that I will be able to use these skills to help others, as well as myself in the future. I was also a two-year member of the honor roll at Blackman High, a two-year leader of the praise band at my church, and an accomplished pianist.
If I were to list my passions in order of importance, the first would be my compulsion to help others. No other driving force in my life is stronger; it’s all I think about everyday (I am involved heavily in the Key Club at my school). My second passion would have to be music. Music has great power and great potential. Speaking from personal experience (and research), I can tell you that it can definitely heal the mind, and in some cases, even the body.
As far as my plans for the future…I have to say the sky’s the limit. I plan to follow God and take advantage of every opportunity that is presented to me. I would very much like to be in a position where I can consistently and freely give money to others (charities), however I am not currently anywhere near that position. In the distant future, I want to build a fortified and powerful foundation to help others everywhere in the world. This may start with founding my own non-profit organization, I’m not sure yet.
Thank you for your time, and God bless.
